From The Collection: Paintings

This collection is a selection of paintings at The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College. We house an extensive collection of paintings, from oil paintings, to watercolors, to retablos. Our painting collection also spans several time periods, with work from the Spanish Colonial period up to the modern and contemporary periods.

One of our most celebrated paintings is John Singer Sargent’s “Portrait Of Miss Elsie Palmer, or A Lady In White” depicting the daughter of local figureheads William Jackson and Queen Palmer. Our collection also features numerous retablos, a genre of religious painting, many of which are by the Arroyo Hondo Santero.

Alongside these two painters, there are many other artists represented in our collection, and we hope you will take the time to look through their work. This collection will be updated periodically as we photograph more of the paintings in our collection; if you want to see more from the collection, be sure to check back on our progress.
