The Collections Department at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College regularly works with art and objects that seldom go on view. As caretakers of the almost 20,000 objects in the permanent collection, our day-to-day tasks are ever-changing. They include working with the objects and files, researchers, FAC members, students, and the public. We carefully balance the care and preservation of our collection with the goal of access to this world-class cultural resource. For this eMuseum grouping, the Collections team selected newly digitized objects that have remained off-view in recent years. A grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services allows the Fine Art Center to provide greater accessibility to the collection through our online database. You’ll notice various media, including works on paper, basketry, paintings, sculptural works, and more. These objects allow us to showcase the broad digitization efforts the museum plans to bring online over the three-year grant period.
